13th Annual Edition Of “The All India Essay Writing Event” Kickstarts, Invites Entries Across The Country

 

Bhubaneswar: Heartfulness, Shri Ram Chandra Mission(SRCM)and United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan will host the 13thedition of “The All India Essay Writing Event – 2018”. Participants can log on to http://www.sahajmarg.org/essay-event for guidelines of participation and write a mail to [email protected] for submission of entries. The last date to submit entries is 12th August 2018.There is no charge for participation.
Entries are invited in English and Hindi at National Level and 9 regional languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu, at state level – under the following categories:
• Category I – Classes 9 to 12. Topic: There is a wisdom of the head, and a wisdom of the heart – Charles Dickens. Word limit – 600
• Category II – UG&PG (Age Limit Less than 28 years and unemployed): Topic: A mind all logic is like a knife all blade. It makes the hand bleed that uses it – Rabindranath Tagore. word limit 750.
Commenting on the event Mr.Kamlesh D Patel, global guide of Heartfulness and President SRCM said, “The core purpose of this initiative is to generate and increase awareness for universal human values, a goal jointly shared by Heartfulness and the United Nations Information Centre. The methods used to spread this are reflection and introspection – participants are given a topic and they are encouraged to reflect about how this topic relates to them and impacts their lives. This is not an on the spot essay contest, participants have enough time to study, research, discuss and reflect about the topic before penning it for submission”
The much-anticipated event has seen incremental increase over the years with 12,000- 14,000 institutions participating, and 2.0-2.5 lakh essay entries being received for evaluation. The evaluation process is at several levels that includes institutional level, state level and national level panels. The final evaluation committee consists of an eminent panel of 8 members who are educationists, PHDs, IITs or professionals- all well qualified to evaluate the entries.
Prizes: Top 10 essays at national level (English & Hindi) and state level (English, Hindi and regional languages) will be given prizes which include medals for top three winners and Certificates jointly signed by the Director, UNIC and President, SRCM. Certificates of merit for top 2 entries at institutional levels and participation certificates for all.
