50th KVS National Sports Meet (Boys) being conducted at LPU Campus

Jalandhar: Five-Day 50th Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s National Sports Meet (Boys) is being conducted at Lovely Professional University (LPU) Campus, where overall winners in the games of hockey & handball will be honoured on the concluding day on 29th May 2019. The present ‘Sports Meet’ is for Boys under-14 & 17 for Hockey and Hand Ball games. For this meet, 300 KV students from 22 regions are participating.
The third-day of the ‘Meet’, today, witnessed the thrilling contests to secure the top honours in both handball and hockey matches. Two Hockey matches were played between the teams of Chandigarh & Patna regions; and, Varanasi & Gurugram regions. The first match was won by Chandigarh region by the score of 4-1; and, in the second match Gurugram registered victory by the score of 4-0.
In the four Handball matches played for Boys under-14 at LPU Handball Courts; Mumbai, Patna, Jabalpur and Varanasi regions won the matches by marvellous scores. Mumbai defeated Hyderabad by 9-5; Patna defeated Lucknow by 23-5; Jabalpur excelled over Tinsukhiya by 13-6; and, Varanasi defeated Agra region by 35-10.
Prior to this on Saturday on the 25th May, the meet was inaugurated by Joint Commissioner of KVS Dr Sachi Kant, where he inspired both boys and girls to exhibit their full strength in excelling opponents. Quoting examples from ‘Mahabharata’, he boosted the morale of students to compete like a true sports person, advised them to concentrate on their targets, and wished them success. Thanking LPU Management, Dr Kant appreciated all arrangements made at LPU for smooth conduction of the games and the nicest staying endeavours for students in their teens. On this occasion, LPU Vice Chancellor Dr Ramesh Kanwar, Deputy Commissioner of KVS (Chandigarh region) Ranveer Singh Assistant Commissioners T Rukmani and Indira Modgil were also present. Highlighting, Boys’ meet is to conclude on 29th May and later on KVS Sports Meet (Girls) will also be held at LPU Campus in the month of June 2019.
