Renowned for their contribution to education across the country, the Birlas set up SBA as their first school for “internationally-minded” families. Just three years old, it takes in boys – all of whom are boarders – from class V. It is affiliated to the ICSE board, and looks to add a class each year, and introduce Class XI from 2007-08. The school has strict policies on pocket money and tuck from home: All pocket money is to be deposited with the school bursar, who gives out coupons to the boys as and when they need them. Parents are updated regularly on their son’s progress and involved in their daily lives through video and teleconferencing. There’s and 18-bed hospital with a qualified resident doctor. Dorms accommodate between four and six boys; each room has an attached bath. There are four boarding houses, with 60 boys under the care of a house master. Stundents and teaching staff dine together on planned vegetarian meals.
