Jalandhar: Under a grand and promised endeavour, Lovely Professional University this year has provided financial support to more than 5000 deserving students through different Scholarships and Financial schemes. More than 12 Crores of Rupees are sanctioned to the students under this drive this year by the University. This Scheme has enabled students from across India and abroad to become part of the coveted University. Talking to Media, the Chancellor of the University Mr. Ashok Mittal said, " We have seen that India is a country where students have lot of talent and capabilities. But, many times lack of financial resources stop them to grow further in area of higher education. Understanding the same, LPU this year, which is also the year when the Lovely Group enters its 50th year of founding, has decided to provide scholarships to such students. Under the schemes it was decided to provide the benefit to large number of meritorious students by providing the scholarship up-to Rs. 1 Lakh per year per student, depending upon the qualifying examination and programme they choose. We also realized that the bright students who are not able to perform well in their qualifying examination because of certain general reasons must also be benefited. For them we have conducted a special online test TFA (Test for Financial Aid) in 25 cities. Four months down the time, I am happy to share the success of the scheme as more than 5000 students have been benefited through it across India." He further informed, " More than 150 students with 90% or above marks, 25% of the total meritorious students having 80% or above(less than 90%) and still 60% of the total such other students getting 70% or more(less than80%) are granted scholarships in accordance to their level of scoring, and 850 students have got benefitted through TFA." The parents, from North East, of a 'Fresh' student Ruchi who has recently got admission in the Programme B Tech of the University said: "Due to certain unavoidable circumstances, she could not perform very well in her last school examination. She was very up-set and frustrated on not going to get admission in the University of her dreams due to financial constraints. When she heard about the TFA, she got elated, prepared well for the exams and made it an unforgettable success to get admission, here, at LPU." It is worth noticing that this year many thousands of students from 25 different states of the country and 15 foreign countries have joined LPU. Now, the Punjab is regularly becoming a great educational hub. Earlier students from Punjab used to hunt far off states of the country and other foreign lands for higher education. Those trends of getting education are now constantly changing. A large number of students from southern parts of the country for quality education at LPU, this year, clearly indicate this sea-change.
