Department of Physics, RKM Vivekananda University, Howrah has invited applications for admission to MSc (Physics) Course of Academic Year 2012-13.
Students who will be completing BSc (Hons.) in Physics during the current year with at least 55% marks in the Hons. Subject (taking into consideration the marks obtained in the examinations conducted so far) from any university approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) will be eligible to apply. They will be required to submit their final marksheet and BSc Hons certificate while taking admission. SC/ST candidates will enjoy 5% concession in the minimum eligibility of marks.
An applicant must choose either of the following dates to appear for entrance examination. Applicant must write below the first page of the application form, his/her chosen date for the entrance examination. The same applicant will not be allowed to appear for the entrance examination on both days.
* Option 1: SUNDAY, 4 MARCH 2012 from 12 noon to 2 pm
* Option 2: SUNDAY, 11 MARCH 2012 from 12 noon to 2 pm
The entrance examination will be held at the main campus of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University at Belur Math, Howrah 711202. Candidates will be examined in the following topics in Physics: classical, quantum and statistical mechanics, mathematical methods and electrodynamics. Based on the performance in the written test, candidates will be called for an interview at a later date.

Application forms can be collected from the University office in person till 25 February 2012 during the office hours (from 10 am to 5 pm). Application form and Admit Card are available for download at : http://phy.rkmvu.ac.in/appform.pdf
Submission of Application Forms:
Application forms completed in all respects should be submitted either by post or in person at the RMKV University office together with a fee of Rs 200/- by demand draft in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University on or before 29 February, 2012.
