New Delhi: The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM) for admission to Integrated Ph.Dprograms at IISc Bangalore (IISc) and M.Sc. (2-years), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree and other post-bachelor’s degree programs at IITs at Bhubaneswar-IITBBS, Bombay-IITB, Delhi- IITD, Gandhinagar-IITGN, Guwahati-IITG, Hyderabad-IITH, Indore-IITI, Kanpur-IITK, Kharagpur-IITKgp, Madras-IITM and Roorkee-IITR, for the 2014-15, will be held on 9th February, 2014 (Sunday) at various centres through out the country.
These include Agra, Ahmadabad, Allahabad, Asansol, Bareilly, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Dhanbad,Durgapur, Ernakulam, Faridabad, Goa, Gorakhpur, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Haldwani, Hubli, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jorhat,Kadapa, Kalyani, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Kollam, Kolkata, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Kurukshetra, Lakshadweep, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nanded, Nellore, Noida, Palakkad, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Roorkee, Siliguri, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirapalli, Thrissur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam.
Eligibility for admission may vary from one institution to another. For admission to IISc Bangalore, applicants of General/OBC category should have a First class (as declared by the university). Those belonging to SC/ST and PD category should have a second class (as declared by the university) or 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, in the qualifying degree.
For admission to IIT Guwahati, applicant should have at least (a) 55%marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries or (b) 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC category candidates; and at least (a) 50%marks in Major/Honors and pass in all other subjects, including languages and subsidiaries or (b) 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For admission to all other IITs, applicant should have at least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC Category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PD Category candidates in the qualifying degree.
For candidates with letter grades/CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the admitting institute(s). Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with the required eligibility, as specified by the admitting institute should be submitted by 30th September, 2014. Reservation Policy will be as per the Government of India norms.

However, foreign nationals will be required to satisfy the rules and regulations of the admitting Institute(s) pertaining to foreign students for admission.
JAM 2014 will have seven test papers, namely, Biological Sciences (BL), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology(GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH). Each paper will be of three hours duration. The questions for BL and BT test papers will be of fully objective type while the other test papers will be of objective cum subjective type.
The Test Papers CY, GG, MA, MS and PH will consist of two parts with Part I having objective type questions and Part II having subjective type questions. In each of them, a certain number of candidates will be shortlisted based on the performance in Part-I. The subjective part (Part-II) will be evaluated only for those shortlisted candidates. The papers for BT, CY, GG, MS will be held from 9 a.m to 12 noon on 9th February, 2014 (Sunday) in session I and the tests in BL, MA, PH will be held in session II from 2 p.m to 5 p.m. A candidate can appear in either one paper or two test papers subject to the test schedule and by paying an additional fee for the second test paper. Those desiring to appear in two Test Papers must ensure, from the Test schedule, that there is no clash of time schedule for the chosen Test Papers.
The application fees for all Female applicants for one paper is Rs.750/- while it is Rs.1050/- for two papers. The application fee for Male & Others of the General/OBC Category for one Test Paper is Rs. 1500/- and Rs. 2100/- for two test papers. For SC/ST/PD among male and others, the fee is Rs. 750/- for one paper and Rs.1050/- for two papers. Bank Charges as applicable will also have to be paid.
A candidate should register for an account in JAM 2014 ONLINE application portal between 16th September and 12th October, 2013. The applicant has to first register as a user on the JAM-2014 website http://gate.iitk.ac.in/JAM2014/index.html . Then the candidate has to fill-in all the personal data online. The details entered in the online form can be modified/updated as desired until the candidate has paid examination fee.
The last date for payment of examination fee is 12thOctober, 2013. The fee can be paid either through net-banking ora challan.The payment is to be made to the account of ‘Chairman JAM, State Bank of India, IIT Kanpur Branch, A/C No. 30733644428 and IFSC Code: SBIN0001161’.
In case, a candidate chooses to pay the fee through net-banking, he/she will be redirected to another secure site for effecting payment. After the net banking transaction is successful, the candidate will be directed back to JAM 2014 website for taking a printout of the online registration form latest by 16th October, 2013 before the final closure of the website.
In case, challan payment option is chosen, a PDF copy of the challan will be generated. This has to be generated, latest by 12th October, 2013. The printed copy of the challan should be presented for payment of examination fee on the next day to any Branch of State Bank of India. Two days after making the payment, the details of payment will get automatically updated in a candidate's account. The candidate should login to his/her JAM 2014 account to take a printout of the online registration form latest by 16th October, 2013 before the final closure of the website.
The printed form affixed with a photograph and signature in the box provided in the form should be sent to the Chairperson JAM 2014 of the Organizing institute. The form should be accompanied with one extra photograph (with name and Application No. written on the back) and the category certificate as applicable. All the documents including the application and category certificate and copy of bank challan payment should be sent by Speed / Registered Post to reach ‘Chairperson JAM 2014, IIT Kanpur’ latest by 23rd October, 2013
Admission to the academic programs in IISc Bangalore and IITs for the academic session 2014-15 will be made on the basis of all India merit list of JAM 2014. For some of the programs at IISc, IITB, IITK and IITM, the short listed candidates will, additionally, have to face an interview. Candidates who qualify in any test paper shall be eligible to apply for admission to all the academic programs corresponding to that test paper, provided they also satisfy the minimum educational qualifications and theessential eligibility requirements, as specified by the Institute (s) in which the admission is sought.
After the declaration of JAM 2014 results, qualified candidates shall be required to apply, specifying their preferences for the programs for which the admission is sought, to the Organizing Institute (IIT Kanpur). JAM 2014 is being organized by IIT Kanpur. All correspondences related to JAM 2014 must be addressed to Organizing Chairman,GATE/JAM Office, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur-208016. Results of JAM 2014 will be announced at 5 pm on 16th April, 2014 (Wednesday).
Only the candidates who qualify in JAM 2014 and whose names appear in the merit list,will be eligible to apply for admission to any of the corresponding academic programs available at participating institutes.
For admission to Integrated Ph.D. Degree at IISc Bangalore & M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree at IIT Bombay & M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Physics at IIT Kanpur, the JAM 2014 qualified candidates are required to refer to the admission websites of respective institutes for details including the dates for interview.
The applicants have to apply for admission by sending an Application Form for Admission, only to the Organizing Institute, IIT Kanpur. Issue of Application Form (s) for admission by JAM Office of IIT Kanpur / downloading from the website of IIT Kanpur can be done between 17th April and 24th April, 2014. An applicant can apply for one or more academic programs corresponding to the Test Paper (s) in which she/he has qualified, subject to fulfilment of the minimum educational qualifications and the eligibility requirements of the Admitting Institute(s).
Irrespective of whether a candidate has qualified in one or two Test Papers, he/she needs to submit only one duly completed Admission Form listing out all the programs in the order of preferences in which the admission is sought at IISc and IITs. The printout of duly completed Admission Form along with the required enclosures must reach the Organizing Chairman, JAM 2014, IIT Kanpur, Kanpur - 208 016, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 600/-, drawn in favour of Chairman, JAM, IIT Kanpur, payable at Kanpur, as a non-refundable processing fee, latest by 30th April, 2014.
A candidate will be considered for admission only to the program (s) according to options provided in Admission Form. Those who have chosen to apply for Integrated Ph.D. program at IISc Bangalore and selected M.Sc.-Ph.D.Dual Degree program at IIT Bombay, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree program in Physics at IIT Kanpur have to additionally follow procedure given on admission website of these institutes and complete the required procedure.
The first Admission List for each program under JAM 2014 will be prepared by the Organizing Institute, taking into consideration the order of preference as given in the Admission Form and corresponding rank (s) in the merit list and the same will be published on 30th May, 2014.
After the declaration of the First Admission List, admission offers will be sent by the respective Admitting Institute (s) to the concerned candidates on the next day. Along with the acceptance offer, these candidates will also have to send an advance fee of Rs. 10000/- to the Organizing Institute through a demand draft in favour of the Chairman, JAM, IIT Kanpur, payable at Kanpur. The said amount will be transferred to the Admitting Institute and will be adjusted at the time of registration. If seats remain vacant after the first admission process is over, the Organizing Institute will prepare a second admission list which will be published on 24th June, 2014.
The admission offers based on the second list, if any, will be sent by the Admitting Institute(s) to the candidates concerned.The candidates who have been offered admission through second list but not through first list must send their acceptance offer, along with an advance fee of Rs. 10000/- to the Organizing Institute through a demand draft in favour of the Chairman, JAM, IIT Kanpur, payable at Kanpur.
This amount will be transferred to the Admitting Institute and will be adjusted at the time of registration. If seats remain vacant after the second admission process is over, the Organizing Institute will prepare a third admission list which will be published on 14th July, 2014. The admission offers based on the third list, if any, will be sent by the Admitting Institute(s) to the candidates concerned.The candidates offered admission through the third list must report directly to the admitting institute on the date of registration. With that the admission process based on JAM 2014 will come to an end.
If a candidate is allotted a seat through the First Admission List and if he/she accepts the offer of admission, his/her lower preferences, if any, will be automatically cancelled. However, he/she will remain on the waiting list for all of his/her higher preferences (if any). The eligible candidates, who are not allotted any seat in the First/Second Admission List, will remain on the waiting list in the next round of admission(s). If a candidate fails to accept an admission offer, he/she will not be considered further in the admission process.
