Report by India Education bureau, New Delhi: OP Jindal Community College, a vocational training initiative by Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) across all its plant locations in India, has bagged the ‘2nd FICCI Leap Vault Skills Champion Award’ under the industry category. Dr. Pallam Raju, Honorable Union Minister for Human Resource Development, presented the award at the 6th Global Skills Summit organised by FICCI recently.
The award is in recognition of the extraordinary contribution to skills development of the youth of India to meet the requirement of semi-skilled/ skilled workforce in the industries and to improve their employability. OPJCC has five colleges two each in Odisha and Jharkhand and one in Chhattisgarh.
OP Jindal Community College (OPJCC), a pioneering, private industrial training institute, is the realisation of JSPL’s founder Shri OP Jindal’s dream to create value for society through technical vocational education. On receiving the award, Ms Miriam Carter, Director, OPJCC, said, “We are motivated by this award to work harder towards a better future for the youth in rural India”.
The Skills Champion awards are a celebration of the exemplary work done by a large number of corporates, academia, government and other stakeholders in making skill development the fastest growing industry in India.
The 6th Global Skills Summit was organized by FICCI in association with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Labour & Employment, National Skills Development Corporation, and was attended by 500 plus delegates from more than 8 countries.
