Mumbai: In a survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal, Penn State University is ranked number one among all U.S. universities since 2010 by corporate recruiters. They found Penn State students to be well rounded, most skilled and the best attitude to be ready for corporate jobs.
A team of representatives of the prestigious Pennsylvania State University is in the city talking to students looking for undergraduate courses in the US. The 2 day admissions reception started today which is being hosted at the Fergusson College and The Pride Hotel respectively.
In the first seminar held yesterday at the Trident hotel, high school students along with parents met the university representatives to discuss the various course options, eligibility criterions and timelines for admissions etc.
“Currently Penn University has 7,000 international students enrolled from 140 countries including 700 students from India. That means that about 10% of our international student population is from India. We are happy to be visiting Pune to meet and interact with potential students” said Ms. Anne L. Rohrbach, Executive Director, Undergraduate Admissions.
“Students educated in India are well prepared for the academic rigor of Penn State. That is why we are reaching out to them through this tour in Pune and Mumbai. Representatives from Undergraduate Admissions and Global Programs will present an overview of Penn State’s undergraduate academic opportunities to prospective students and families, school counselors and principals” added Ms. Rohrbach.
With over 7500 faculty and close to 100,000 registered students, Penn State University is one of the largest universities in USA. Penn State offers over 160 baccalaureate degrees.
In a ranking study conducted by the prestigious Wall Street Journal, Penn State was ranked as America’s number ONE university by corporate recruiters in two successive years recently.
In a study conducted by the Royal Society and MIT, Penn State’s Learning Factory was ranked as one of the top six most innovative programs in engineering education in the world.
"Penn State is highly recognized for our business, science and engineering programs. A major in Film and Video is offered in our College of Communications. We have strong connections with alumni in business and industry which provides internships for students in most majors," emphasised Ms. Rohrbach.
Students from various schools were seen speaking to the visiting representatives to know all about the universities and courses available.
