Aligarh : The 111th Orientation Program of UGC Academic Staff College concluded today in which 38 university and college lecturers from West Bengal, UP, Assam and Andhra Pradesh participated.

In his presidential remarks, renowned academician and Chief Guest Prof. Fasih Ahmad Siddiqui urged the teachers to discharge their duty in a way to cater special needs of their students hailing from socially and financially backward classes. Prof. Siddiqui highlighted the role of Aligarh Muslim University in bringing about the social engineering and cohesion. He cited the example of ABK Union School which is sponsored by AMU for the benefit of children from poor section of society.

In his welcome speech Prof. A. R. Kidwai, Diractor, Academic Staff College felicitated the course participants and expressed hope that they will impart the knowledge and skill to their students of their respective institutions that they have gained during this programme. The course participants, Ms. Pallavi Gogoi from Assam and Dr. Anupam Srivastava from Agra expressed their observations on the orientation programme and said it was greatly beneficial for them. They also appreciated the academic ambience on the campus.

Dr. G. A. Kaleem, Indian Police Academy, Hyderabad, Prof. N. Laxman Rao, Osmania University, Hyderabad, Dr. C. N. Kumar and Dr. P. K. Sharma, New Delhi and Prof. Irfan Habib and Prof. Farhatullah Khan from AMU were among the prominent resource persons of the course.
