AMU faculty visits University of Aberdeen, UK

Aligarh: Professor Altaf Ahmad, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, under India-UK senior fellowship, visited the University of Aberdeen, UK where he worked on Genome-Wide Association Mapping (GWAS) of rice genotypes using a Biolinux operating system.

Prof Ahmad also delivered two lectures on “Genetically Encoded FRET-Based Nanosensors, A tool for measuring metabolites in living cells” and “Proteome analysis of nitrogen-efficient and nitrogen-inefficient wheat varieties at low N and elevated C02”.

Prof Ahmad is currently engaged in a multi-institutional Indo-UK project, entitled “Newton-Bhabha Virtual Centre on Nitrogen Efficiency of Whole-cropping Systems for improved performance and resilience in agriculture, funded by DBT (India) and BBSRC (UK).
