‘Aviation Safety Equipment Display’ organised by TIAT and AMAN Aviation’
Mumbai: A demo of aviation safety equipment was organized by AESI (Aeronautical Society of India) Mumbai branch,along with TIAT and AMAN Aviation at Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology on September 08, 2018.
The ‘Aviation Safety Equipment Display’cum seminarwas inaugurated by Vivek Kulkarni,Senior instructor- TIATand hon. joint secretary AESI, Mumbai Branch and Max Aerospace Group’s Chairman and MD, Bharat H. Malkani, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Close to 25 students from Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT)displayed the projects out of which around five were selected to be displayed at the event.Equipment showcased at the event was Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), Aircraft Bird Strike, Landing Aids, Composite Safety, Aircraft Side Rafter, Megaphone, Seat Belt, Live Jacket and Drone.
Lalit Nagapurkar and Prateek, the students from TIAT won the first prize for making a Drone fitted with camera and fire extinguisher. The drone was operated live by both the students. The feeds from the drone camera could be seen in the mobile connected to it. The concept of Drone fitted with camera and fire extinguisher was appreciated a lot by the audience.
Later, Keshav Sharma, Regional Executive Director, WR, Airports Authority of India delivered the welcome note in the seminar and showed interest for workshop on Drone which would be conducted by TIAT.
The seminar was attended by nearby schools, AME Institute, Aviation industry personnel,IIT Mumbai staff of aeronautical department among others.
Subhajit Maity, Chief Instructor of TIAT, said, “Apart from displaying aviation safety equipment the seminar saw experts take the audience on an educative tour regarding the operation and use of aviation safety equipment, and taking care of health safety, and how to perform CPR. All in all, it was an educative forum for the audience.”
The Seminar included a technical session with presentations on Aviation Safety Equipment operation and use by Sumit Kumar Quality Manager of Aman Aviation; Health Safety and CPR by Dr. Manohar Rai (GO AIR) Head of first aid training; Safety Nets In Air Traffic Management By Mr.A B Joshi (Joint General Manager (ATM) -AAI ); Live Demo of Aircraft Side Rafter By Aman Aviation Group (at Ground Floor); and Aviation safety equipment display and live demonstration by TIAT Students &Aman Aviation.
