Book On Numerical and Semi-Analytical Methods to Solve Differential Equations

Rourkela: For solving differential equations, Professor of Mathematics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, Dr. Snehashish Chakraverty and his students Nisha Rani Mahato, Perumandla Karunakar and Tharasi Dilleswar Rao have written a book called ‘Advanced Numerical and Semi-Analytical Methods for Differential Equations’ which is recently published by WILEY.
This student-friendly book deals with various approaches for solving differential equations numerically or semi-analytically depending on the type of equations and offers simple example problems to help readers along. Containing twenty one chapters, with each chapter covering different methods and studies that may be used for solving different linear as well as nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations (ODEs and PDEs), if there is something you are trying to understand, it may be in here. Generally, engineering problems are governed by different differential equations or system of differential equations. These differential equations may be ODEs and PDEs. As such, this book deals with various approaches for solving differential equations numerically or semi-analytically depending on the type of differential equations.
Speaking about the book, Professor Snehashish Chakraverty says, ‘’In general physical system is governed by some type of differential equations and so will be very useful to graduates, undergraduates, research scholars and faculties. This will give a comprehensive knowledge of basic as well as the method of solution for linear ODEs and PDEs’’, tells Professor Chakraverty.
Talking about the area of numerical a and semi-analytic methods, Professor Chakraverty says, ‘’Differential equations are the backbone of every science and engineering problems in general, but, the form of differential equations depends upon particular application problems. As such, we may get ODE or PDE and that too linear or nonlinear. Analytical methods may not be possible always to solve these equations. Accordingly, this book addresses these challenges to handle the above differential equations using numerical and semi-analytical methods. This triggered me and my team to write the book ‘’, explains the Professor.
