Dr Biswas Inaugurates short term course on ‘Smart Manufacturing ‘ in NIT Rourkela

Rourkela: Director of National Institute of Technology Professor dr. Animesh Biswas Inaugurated a short-term course on ‘Smart Manufacturing and Materials Selection towards Steel Industry needs’ (S2M2SI-2018). Inaugurating the event prof. Biswas emphasized the need for smart manufacturing and material selection. He welcomed all the participants from Vizag steel plant and said, ‘’I hope this training programme will be fruitful for all the participants. In future, we will organize more such training courses. While Registrar of NIT Rourkela Dr Santosh Kumar Upadhyay said, ‘ Out of 31 nit’s all over the country we are the second best nit. Industry-institute interaction is our top priority ‘.
Speaking on this occasion dr. DR Parhi said, ‘Today we are reeling under poverty, hunger. It’s a very sad thing but science has a solution to everything. He emphasized the role of automation in manufacturing’. At the beginning prof. BBVL Deepak HOD of Industrial design department welcomed the participants. This course aims to provide training on role of automation in manufacturing, parameter optimization in the manufacturing process, sensors and actuators to control the industrial process, programmable logical drives for automating the manufacturing operations, computer-aided design, manufacturing and reverse engineering, material selection and applications for the steel sectors etc. This five days short-term course (8october to 12th October ) has been jointly organized by the Department of Industrial Design and Department of Mechanical Engineering .
