Fifth Edition of Asia’s Premier Nature and Wildlife Festival by Nature inFocus –NiF Photography Awards 2018
New Delhi: There was a lot to be exicited about NiF Festival 2018. After an Overwhelming response from photography enthusiasts across the globe – over 600 participants; 5,200 images across 6 categories Nature inFocus became a huge sucess and it was time to honour winners for their extraordinary showcase of talent through their nature and wildlife photography.
The Second day event of the day was the much-awaited Nature in Focus photography awards. The winners were announced and the winners were:
1. Photographer of the Year went to Pratik Pradhan
2. Conservation Issues Winner- Shatabdi Chakrabarti
3. Creative Nature Photography winner- Pratik Pradhan
4. Humour & Wildlife winner- Indranil Basu Mallick
5. Wildscape & Animals in Habitat winner- Anjani Kumar
6. Young Photographer winner- Manasi Gopinath
7. Animal Portraits & Behavior winner- Anand Nambiar
The NiF Photography Awards are a recognition of the photographers’ empathy for nature’s biodiversity. The submission for entries that began on June 22 was open till July 31, 2018. The Award categories have been designed to bring together evocative visuals of animal portraits, habitats and conservation issues, at the same time providing space for photographers to explore their creativity.
Lined up for the contest were entries from both adults (above 17) and young photographers (17 years and under). Winners were chosen in the categories of Animal Portraits & Behaviour, Conservation Issues, Creative Nature Photography, Humour & Wildlife, and Wildscape & Animals in Habitat. Open to those under 17, the ‘Young Photographer Award’ put the spotlight on fresh and passionate young talent.
The winners this year was chosen by a 5-member jury comprising of renowned wildlife photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee, conservation scientist Divya Mudappa, wildlife filmmaker Saravanakumar Salem, wildlife photographer Giri Cavale and award-winning wildlife photographer Jayaprakash Bojan. The jury curator is Nature inFocus founder, Kalyan Varma, a wildlife photographer, filmmaker and naturalist.
Renowned Conservationists, Photographers, Wildlife Filmmakers and Ecologists from across the globe deliberated on topics related to Nature, Wildlife and Conservation during the three-day festival.
Speakers included Wildlife Photographer Will Burrard-Lucas; Conservation Scientist Krithi K Karanth; Marine Conservationist Aaron Savio Lobo; Underwater Filmmaker Anup J Kattukaran; National Geographic Explorers Munmun Dhalaria and Malaika Vaz; and Botanical Illustrator Nirupa Rao among others.
Nature and wildlife enthusiasts attended the fifth edition of the Nature inFocus Festival in many numbers.
