Go Green Awareness Walkathon by Ramapuram SRM Students.

Chennai: Today, students from SRM Ramapuram campus participated in the awareness “Go Green” walkathon at Elliots Beach, Besant Nagar, Chennai. The walkathon was flagged off by, Dr. V. Subbiah Bharathi, Director, SRM Group of Institution, Ramapuram.

Nearly 1000 students of Computer science and other department from SRM Rampuram campus participants took part in the noble initiative of ‘ Go Green Walkathon’ to promote a clean and green environment. The walkathon of 3 km started from Eliots beach and went through Rajaji Bhavan, Annai Vailankanni Shrine, Murugan idli shop and ended at starting point of Eliots beach.

The aim of the walkathon is to promote the awareness for green environment by planting trees and avoid using the plastic items. The event received an overwhelming response from the enthusiastic participants, who displayed banners/placards and hurling slogans in the air all along the route for promoting the theme. Students also engaged in giving free sapling to the public and were enthusiastic appealing to the residents to go green.
