Hundreds of students engineer tech solutions for the nation’s progress, on day one of Smart India Hackathon 2018 at the nodal centre, S.P. Mandali’s WeSchool, Mumbai

 

Mumbai: The day one in Mumbai for Smart India Hackathon 2018 saw groups of student engineers accompanied by mentors, braced for the 36-hour non-stop challenge. Students group begin work to invent executable software solutions for problem statements presented by Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution at S.P. Mandali’s Prin L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool, the nodal centre for Smart India Hackathon 2018, Mumbai.

Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Union Minister, MHRD, officially announced open the Smart India Hackathon 2018, in the inaugural event video conference, Delhi along with dignitaries from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), eminent government officials and corporate chiefs from across India.

Present at the inaugural on WeSchool campus, Mumbai were, Dr. Amit Dutta, WRO, AICTE; Mr. Prashant Gulalkari, Vice President, Strategic Development, Persistent Systems Limited; Dr. Pratham, Varshney, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Prakash Nevatia, Dy. Secretary, Department of Commerce and Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, Food Corporation of India amongst luminaries from the government teams.

Delighted to be a part of the Smart India Hackathon 2018, Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Group Director, WeSchool said, “The Smart India Hackathon 2018 unifies the younger generation to learn the power of ‘WE’ because challenges are solved by teams. The platform enables students to push the boundaries of creativity thereby facilitating collaboration, exchange of ideas and rapid development of software solutions in the 36-hour marathon time. Smart India Hackathon 2018 software edition is a good beginning for students in strengthening their individual capacity and in turn strengthening the economic growth of our nation.”
