IIM Kozhikode Inaugurates the 11th Batch of Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) at IIM Kozhikode Campus on 26th Nov. 2018

Kozhikode, November 26, 2018: The 11th batch of the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) in Management for working professionals was inaugurated at IIMK Campus on 26 November 2018.

The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) in Management at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) offers a judicious blend of theory and practice and is a two-year Post Graduate Diploma Programme offered on a combination of In–Campus module and Interactive Learning platform. A unique feature of the IIMK EPGP is its in-built concern to impart management education to working professionals seeking to upgrade their knowledge and skills. 2018-2020 batch of EPGP has 233 participants.

In his introductory remarks, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode said “Our vision for India is inclusive education and promotion of excellence. IIM Kozhikode is globalizing Indian thought not only geographically but also intuitively. IIMK has commenced the journey of Interactive Executive Education Programme way back in 2001 and today we have classrooms spread across the length and breadth of the country. Our centres of Executive Education Program are practicing excellence through inclusiveness. We are on the path of achieving unique synthesis of value for money and value for many”.

While addressing the new batch of students, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director IIM Kozhikode mentioned “The admissions to the EPGP programme saw an increase by 46%, with an average experience of 8.8 years. Such a profile is a testimony to the increased preference of our program and also goes on to tell that the program is well received by the industry”.

Prof. Chatterjee has championed the cause of diversity in management education wherein in his earlier tenure he encouraged women in management and he continues to do so even in this term.

Introducing the Chief Guest of the function, Padma Bhushan Sri Prabhu Chawla, Prof. Chatterjee mentioned that ‘he is a rare individual whose values transcend generations of journalists’. Sri Prabhu Chawla has been a pioneer in the TV journalism wherein his Seedhi Baat in Aaj Tak television channel that ran for more than seven years.

Sri Prabhu Chawla shared his journey and how he viewed the past and present journalism. He especially lamented the way modern journalists have made a mockery of news presentation. He also encouraged all the audience to identify fake news and consider every bit of information exposed to them diligently. He urged the channels not to treat viewers as products of such news which is all decibels less content.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. C. Raju Dean, Extension Programs spoke about how IIMK pioneered the EPGP program way back in 2001-02 and has now grown to be the most industry accepted program in the executive management space.

Post the inaugural session a plenary session was organized where Sri Sanjay Gupta has delivered the lecture. Sri Sanjay Gupta is the Editor in Chief and CEO of Jagran Prakashan Ltd, one of India’s leading Media and Communications Group with leadership in Print, Digital, Radio, Out-of-Home (OOH) and Activation. He spoke on the importance of passion to bring to the work life. He suggested the EPGP participants to keep on improving themselves by reading and practicing the wisdom drawn from good books. He also emphasized the role of balancing the career and family life of the participants. Especially, he also elaborated the changes happening in the media, role of technology that is disrupting the media companies.
