IIT Hyderabad offers an All Course M.Tech. Program

Hyderabad: The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) is going to start an All Course M.Tech. program from the forthcoming academic session.

The current two-year program consists of two semesters of course work followed by 14 months of research. The All Course M.Tech. program can be completed in three to four semesters.

Many industries find that the strong coursework at the IITs provide the students with the necessary skills that suit the industry requirements. The All Course M.Tech. program fee will be higher and will be ‘per credit based’. The All Course M.Tech. program students will not be entitled for any fellowships as GATE qualification will not be mandatory.

Speaking on this program, Prof. U. B Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said: “The Indian industries needs a highly skilled workforce equipped with latest developments and practices, and this we believe can be achieved through an exhaustive set of courses. The IIT Hyderabad will be offering an All Course M.Tech. program with specializations in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering from Aug. 2017.”

He further explained that the All Course program will not be a shortcut to an IIT degree. The program students, besides taking the normal course load, will also have to take extra courses in place of the research work done in the Second Year of the regular two-year M.Tech. program.

“The course rigour will be the same and will have the depth of IIT courses and breadth for skill and practice,” said Prof. Desai.

On successful completion of the program, the student will receive an M.Tech. degree. The IIT Hyderabad is accepting online applications till 20 July 2017 in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical departments.

The candidates will be selected through initial shortlisting followed by written test and/or interview. Program details and online application is available at http://www.iith.ac.in/mtechoneyradmissions/home.jsp
