IIT Rooke To Host Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon

 

Roorkee: India Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is organizing Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019, Software Edition and shall be hosting the event between 2nd and 3rd of March 2019.

Smart India Hackathon 2019 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. This is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). With over 1 lakh technical students, 3000 technical institutions and more than 200 organizations from across India, this is the world’s biggest Software and Hardware Hackathon.

There will be seven challenging and complex problem statements related to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Machine Learning (ML) to be solved by 28 teams comprising over 196 students from different part of the country for development of software based industrial solutions. About 8 judges from industry and academia will evaluate the students in three rounds. Each team will have 8 members including two mentors. The problem statement from KG Info Systems Pvt Ltd at nodal center IIT Roorkee will be coded for solution.

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of Human Resources Development will announce the start of the Smart India Hackathon 2019 on March 2, through Video Conferencing. A live interaction session with the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has also been scheduled for later in the day.

“We look forward to organizing the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019. The scale of the event is massive and we expect it to bring innovations to the fore” said Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee.

The last edition of the hackathon saw over 5 million+ students from various engineering colleges complete for the top prize at 35+ locations. This time in the Hackathon, the students would also have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within private sector organizations and create world class solutions for some of the top companies in the World, thus helping the private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.
