Information on JEE UGC admissions and PG admissions at IIT Ropar
IIT Ropar offers the following PG programmes: MS (CSE, EE), MTech (ME), MSc (CY, PY, MA). The main goals of PG Masters programmes are to develop scientific and engineering workforce of the highest quality, to cater to the needs of Industry, R & D organizations and educational institutions, and to enable students to have awareness and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of society. The programmes have been structured in such a way that interested and potential students can upgrade to the MS or PhD programme.
MSc:
M.Sc. programmes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry started from the academic year 2015-16. In the first batch, 23 students are selected through JAM-2015. Admission process is through JAM-2016 and at this time centrally online counselling is going on for 2016-17 batch. The organizing institute for JAM 2016 is IITM.
MTech:
The institute has started M. Tech. programme in Mechanical Engineering.19 MTech students have joined through GATE-2015 followed by counselling in IIT Ropar. For the 2016-17 year, first round of counselling in IIT Ropar has started for the eligible and shortlisted candidates.
MS:
MS programmes in the departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering have also commenced from January 2016. In the 2016-17 year, 8 students are selected in computer science.
BTech in Civil Engineering (2016-17)
The B.Tech program in Civil Engineering will start from 2016-17 academic year with an intake of 25 students. The B.Tech. program apart from covering the fundamental courses, shall imbibe all traditional aspects of civil engineering including materials, structures, water resources, environment, soil mechanics/ foundation, transportation and geomatics in a holistic mode.
PhD in Civil Engineering:
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering will be started from 2016-17 academic year and shall emphasize upon the problems of the region (Punjab and Haryana) like floods, water-logging, earthquakes, road accidents, cancer epidemic, dwindling water resources, and degrading environment/water quality.The focus shall be on related modern developments like new materials, wireless-sensors, modeling and simulation; and the current issue of climate change.
PhD in other departments:
The selection process is over for PhD and MS admissions for the 2016-17 session I. Currently, offer letter are being sent to the shortlisted candidates and nearly 50 scholars are expected to join in July 2016 session.
