‘Inspire others rather than wait to be inspired’: Former President Pranab Mukherjee to Students at BML Munjal University’s 3rd Convocation
New Delhi: Former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, has asked students to inspire others rather than wait to be inspired. Delivering the Convocation Address at BML Munjal University’s 3rd Convocation, he said that aspirational India needs socially conscious and professionally competent youth, who will lend a helping hand in meeting the challenges of growth and industrial development. Shri Pranab Mukherjee was the Chief Guest at the Convocation while Shri Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and CEO, OYO Rooms was the Guest of Honour. Over 300 students from BML Munjal University’s School of Management and School of Engineering and Technology were conferred with degrees on successful completion of MBA, BBA, B.Com. (H) and B. Tech. programmes.
Delivering the Guest of Honour address, Shri Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and CEO, OYO Rooms said: “Education is an enabler, a stepping stone. Starting today, challenge yourself to put to test and implement all that you’ve learned during your time at BMU. Both in classes and in the corridors. Do strike a balance – don’t take your education for granted and, at the same time, don’t be limited by it. There are a plethora of opportunities in India today – more than ever before. All that’s needed is for the young to recognize them, step forward and grab them.”
“Our glorious nation’s future relies on you all. You are going to be a part of the country’s scientific, engineering and technological manpower, which is a crucial constituent of our developmental framework. It is incumbent on you to lend your hand in meeting the challenges of growth and industrial development. I am confident that you will more than fulfil the responsibilities entrusted upon you, provided you continue to work with dedication, perseverance, hard work and imagination,” added Shri Pranab Mukherjee during the Convocation Address.
The Convocation commenced with an academic procession, followed by welcome speech and presentation of the annual report by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.S. Satyanarayana. It was followed by an address by the Chancellor, Shri Sunil Kant Munjal. The Convocation Address was presented by the Chief Guest, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The Guest of Honor, Shri Ritesh Agarwal also addressed the gathering. The Vote of Thanks was presented by Shri Akshay Munjal, President, BML Munjal University.
In his address, Shri Sunil Kant Munjal, Chancellor, BML Munjal University congratulated the graduating students. He also thanked Shri Mukherjee and Shri Agarwal for their presence and for their words of encouragement to the university and the students. He added: “We teach our students to ask the right questions. The idea is to be curious and to be inquisitive. That’s also the reason why we lay strong emphasis on knowledge through experience or experiential learning. We maintain a strict balance between theory and knowledge gained through experience. We see BMU as the nursery for future leaders, where they learn to address and to solve the challenges of the future.”
BML Munjal University has set up an innovative teaching, learning and research environment in India. The state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops on campus are not only helping educate students to find real-life solutions for societal problems, but also encourage the top-notch researchers of the nation and abroad to come and practice at BMU. The Centres of Excellences and Laboratories in association with Siemens, SHELL, IBM, Intel, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Hero MotoCorp are noteworthy.
