Jamia professor wins IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement in Continuing Education Award 2015

New Delhi: Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas, Honorary Director, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia has been selected to receive the prestigious IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) Meritorious Achievement in Continuing Education Award 2015.  This Award, instituted in 1984 by IEEE, recognizes IEEE members for the dedicated contribution to the design, delivery, and support of continuing education courses and programs in the fields of interest to IEEE members. The citation reads “for design and development ofcurriculum and laboratory facilities for professionals and students inthe electric utility industry”.
Dr. Thomas will receive the award during the 2015 IEEE EAB Award Presentation Ceremony which will take place during the IEEE Meeting Series in New Jersey, USA on 20 November 2015.  Attendees will include the IEEE President, members of the IEEE Board of Directors, and other IEEE Officers and companions.    As part of the award, Dr. Thomas will receive a plaque with the citation and a cash prize of US$ 1000.                               Dr. Thomas  has earlier won the IEEE MGA Larry K Wilson Transnational award in 2013 and the Outstanding Power and Energy Chapter Chair award in 2012.   IEEE, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers is the largest technical professional body, with more than 400,000 members in 160 countries.
Dr. Thomas is very active in professional societies and she is currently the IEEE Delhi Section Chairperson which has 5000+ members.
