LPU Students won Best Screenplay Award at 5th Indian Cine Awards- 2017 held in Mumbai

 

Jalandhar: Providing momentum to independent cinema, 5th Indian Cine Awards- 2017 were held at the Fern Hotel Goregaon in Mumbai where Lovely Professional University students’ team from the department of Film & TV Production won ‘Best Screenplay (Jury) Award’ in student category. For this, a nine-member team of LPU students had worked jointly for the award winning short-film ‘Nazdeekiyaan’ under banner of ‘Hocus Focus Films’ established at the University. Hailing from different states of India, the screen-play writer Shyambhu Poddar (Kolkata), director Preetham Dev (Bangalore), Subham Malakar (Assam), editor Deepak Kumar (West Bengal), Anish Kumar Kashyap (Chhatisgarh), cinematographer Vamshi Krishna Reddy (Hyderabad), Hitesh (Karnataka), production managers Vikas K Rangeela (Jharkhand) & Vikram K Jha (Uttar Pradesh) have already revealed their abilities at Dada Saheb Film Festival Awards for their Ad- Film ‘DoCoMo’. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the hard working students for their creativeness.
Short film ‘Nazdeekiyaan’ is all about conversation between a grandfather and his grandson, where itch of curiosity is ever felt and viewer stays interestingly inquisitive as to what is next. Taking threads of his personal life, the grandfather of the story messages about the best utilization of the appropriate time and also lays stress on never to miss it.
Director of the film, Preetham Dev shares: “I and my other team members are very happy on receiving this prestigious award. We are thankful to our university which has accorded us a broad platform to develop our talents as per our imagination and creativity. We are lucky that coming from far-off parts of India we joined LPU programmes and have been receiving accolades and appreciations from the best quarters of the country. I want to admit that through such a massive participation, we have indeed gathered great cinematic ideas.”
Jury member for the award ceremony were award winning film director of Albania Agim Sopi; national award winning veteran film director of Mumbai G L Bhardwaj; and, film academician & researcher of New Delhi Dr D C Singh. On this occasion, guests of honour were Film Producer of bollywood film ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster’ & CEO- Wave Cinemas & Studios (Mumbai) Rahul Mittra and director of famous films Delhi Heights & Zilla Ghaziabad of Mumbai Anand Kumar.
Illustrative, the objective of ICFF (Indian Cine Film Festival) is to create a platform for the meeting, sharing & development of great cinematic ideas. The festival along with international competitive films’ screenings also holds a film market & industry oriented master classes & discussions. The festival provides a central point where industry people can share business and new opportunities created for new talent.
