The Media & Entertainment Skill Council of India Elects Filmmaker & Educationist Subhash Ghai as the Chairman
Mumbai: From the time of its inception in 2012, MESC has strived to create a robust and vibrant eco-system to provide quality vocational education and develop a distinct skill set in Media & Entertainment domain in the country.
Upholding the vision of enhancing its capabilities, the Governing Council of MESC, India elected filmmaker & educationist Subhash Ghai as its new Chairman. Subhash Ghai’s valuable knowledge and experience in honing talent would be crucial at a time when MESC is required to create 11.74 lakhs skilled workforce by 2022 and contribute to the National Skill Mission of creating 500 million skilled workforces.
Fondly conferred as the ‘showman’ of the Hindi Film industry, over the years Ghai’s contribution to the Indian cinema has been notable. He has not only entertained the audience with his blockbusters but also educated them by throwing light on social issues through his creative content and outstanding story-telling skills. To provide world class education to the talented aspirants who aim to make a mark in the industry, the veteran filmmaker also founded Whistling Woods International, Asia’s premier Film, Communication and Creative Arts Institute.
The zeal, dedication, and persistence that Subhash Ghai has applied in his work has been applauded by many including the members of MESC. Through his expertise in the sector, MESC envisions to solve skill development challenges, which includes a huge supply-demand gap in terms of both the quality and quantity of workforce.
In his first Governing Council meeting of the MESC as the Chairman, Ghai addressed the members about the responsibilities he would behold for the benefit of the organization.
Sharing his views for the betterment of the entire Media & Entertainment ecosystem he said, “I believe for a skilled India, major emphasis needs to be put on the quality of trainers provided to the trainees. It is the need of the hour and collaboratively working with the members of MESC for the betterment of the quality of our trainers is top on my priority list.”
