MoU inked between Jindal Global Business School and University of Otago, New Zealand fostering academic collaboration

New Delhi, August 30, 2017: Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has signed a MoU with the University of Otago, New Zealand for academic cooperation aimed at providing students of its MBA programme an opportunity to learn the ropes of international business at the Otago Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart).

Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart) are full time annual programmes offered by New Zealand’s University of Otago.

JGBS students will complete the first year of their MBA programme in Sonipat and head to Otago Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart) for the second year.

The Otago MIntBus and MMart courses will be recognized as the second year of MBA by JGU. Upon successful completion of Otago MIntBus and MMart, students will be awarded dual degrees by JGU and Otago MIntBus and MMart.

Professor (Dr) C Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor, JGU speaking on the occasion said, “A quality global business degree program not only helps students develop a strong foundation in business fundamentals but also in acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in a global marketplace. Students in such programs learn diverse skill sets, including how to construct management practices and processes in an international environment while recognizing global differences and challenges. In our bid to raise the quality of higher education institutions in India, we need to draw from experiences from around the world”.

The MoU was signed between Dr. Tapan Panda, Dean, JGBS and Professor Robin Gauld, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Commerce) of Otago Business School. This academic understanding between two global Universities will allow students to experience the best of both worlds.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Tapan Panda, Dean, JGBS, said, “New Zealand is becoming a new destination for management students due to quality of life as well as opportunity for professional excellence. This MoU provides our business students an opportunity to earn dual masters. They can complete their first year of MBA here and then proceed to Otago Business School for completing their second year. They can join two programs namely Master of International Business and Master of Marketing. The students will receive a scholarship of NZ$5000 during the programme. Such an initiative will help JGU in building truly world class business leaders”.

Otago University is New Zealand’s first University, founded in 1869. In the almost 150 years since, Otago has prided itself on being a research-led University with an international reputation for excellence. It is ranked 151 in the 2017/18 QS World University Rankings and in the top 100 in 12 subject areas. It received a Five Stars Plus QS Stars University rating in 2016.

The offered programmes has intake of five students per course for JGBS students. The students will also receive a sum of NZ$5000 towards accommodation scholarship in each programme.
