A Night Walking Among The Stars: Montblanc Unveils Its New StarWalker Collection In Houston

Houston: On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the first landing on the moon, Montblanc hosted the launch of a new campaign for the newly designed StarWalker writing instrument featuring former astronaut Leroy Chiao. Guests including Hugh Jackman, Diane Kruger, Winnie Harlow and Charles Melton joined Montblanc at the Lone Star Museum in Houston, Texas for an evening dedicated to the wonder of one of humankind’s most mysterious and powerful adventures: space exploration.

An invitation to reconnect with our planet, the campaign captures the moment of awe when space travellers gaze back at Earth from space and truly experience the beauty and preciousness of the planet they call home.  Inside a large geodesic dome lit in shades of blue to mirror the Earth from space and evoking the dome of the StarWalker writing instrument itself, Montblanc recreated the experience of space for one night only in Houston, a city long been associated with the advancement of space exploration, As they entered the event, guests were invited to disconnect from the world they knew and reconnect as they enjoyed mesmerizing 360 views of Earth from space.

Former astronaut and space station commander Leroy Chiao joined Montblanc ambassador Hugh Jackman and Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki for a panel discussion about his experience in space. Chiao is one of a handful of individuals to have experienced the wonder of space and witnessed the fragility of Earth, having spent 229 days in space over the course of four missions.  Following a preview of the campaign – guests danced the night away to the tracks of DJ Brendan Fallis.

“As the world prepares to celebrate half a century since the first person walked on the moon, space exploration remains as fascinating and awe-inspiring as ever to people everywhere. With this StarWalker campaign, Montblanc is giving people a taste of the emotion astronauts experience as they look at the Earth from space and feel that unexpected longing for home. Hearing Leroy Chiao’s  story tonight and his own impressions of the vast expanse of space, was a heartfelt reminder of the importance of cherishing our fragile planet,” said Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO.

Available from July 2019, the new StarWalker collection, intuitive with its name, is about reaching for the stars and celebrating the wonder of space travel. With a patented translucent dome beneath the emblem evoking the earth rising above the lunar horizon as seen from the moon, it is imbued with the same spirit of continuous exploration that drives many of today’s engineers, scientists and inventors to make the future brighter by challenging the limits of technological advancement on Earth and in space.
