Project Management Institute and SAIL co-host Project Management Conclave in Ranchi

Ranchi: As per National Steel Policy 2017, India has a target to produce 300 MT of steel by 2030-31, which will call for massive capacity expansion for most of the steel producers to protect their respective market shares. This, in turn, will require execution of large-scale projects in the steel and allied industries under very complex situations with the assimilation of new technology, integration, and management of various stakeholder interests under a very dynamic business environment.

The steel industry is indeed the backbone of all economies and more so for India. The success of the industry is therefore key to the growth plans for India. In an endeavor to create awareness around the importance of structured project management, and how it can become the key to project success for the industry, SAIL and PMI co-hosted the Project Management Conclave, 2018. The two-day Conclave showcased how key stakeholders contribute significantly towards the success of a project, and why an organization needs to integrate a structured project management methodology into their work ethos. The Conclave witnessed industry captains from different spheres sharing insights on successful project execution and efficient delivery for sustainable business results.

The theme of the Conclave “Structured Project Management – The Key to Project Success,” highlighted the focus on ideation from thought leaders and key stakeholders in the Indian steel and allied industries. The event served as a great networking platform for the industry stalwarts to share knowledge and ideas around industry challenges and steps to overcome them.

Commenting on the Conclave, Raj Kalady, Managing Director PMI (India) said, “We are delighted to co-host with SAIL for Project Management Conclave in Ranchi. The Conclave put the focus on the vital role that project management can play in achieving the development goals of the steel and allied industries and also of the region. The Conclave was graced by the presence of distinguished keynote speakers such as Dr. G. Dastur & Co.), and Dr. Partha Ghose (President & Chief of Projects, Kalyani Steels Ltd).
