Ryan Group’s 158th Minithon see overwhelming participation from 11,706 students from 41 schools

 

Mumbai: Khorajiya Shuban, Elamurugu S and Modi Nihar were the winners in the boys category and Shewta Balkan, Rutuja Dubii and Harshada Mokal in the girls category at the 158th Minithon organized by Ryan Group of Institutes in under 12 years, under 14 and under 16 categories respectively.

The distance for boys and girls under 12 years, under 14 and under 16 years was 2km, 3 km and 4 km. The Minithon was flagged off by Mr. Ryan Pinto, CEO, Ryan Group along with several other dignitaries, which saw a total of 11,706 students from 41 schools participating in the Minithon held today.

Among girls, Balkan, Dubii and Mokal represented St Xaviers High School, Andheri and Goregaon respectively while Mokal represented St. Joseph High School Panvel. Among boys, Shuban represented St Xavier’s High School, Goregaon while Elamurugu and Nihar represented St. Lawrence High School at Vashi and Borivali respectively.

Overall championship was bagged by St Aloysius High School, Nallasopara and St. Xaviers High School Andheri. This was the 158th race organized by Ryan Group so far since 1998 and 3rd in the current academic year after Nagpur and Aurangabad. It plans to hold 9 more such Minithon at Jabalpur, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Navi Mumbai, Bangalore, Surat, Raipur, Nashik before the academic year ends.

Congratulating the winners and complimenting all the participants, Madam Grace Pinto, Managing Director, Ryan Group of Institutions said, “Caught between rising child obesity on one hand and the inclination towards cell phone on the other among the school students, the objective at Ryan Group was to bring the students out of the four walls of the classroom and build the element of team spirit using sports activity as a tool.” With every passing year, the Minithon has been a huge success and has grown to all corners of the country with over 1 lakh students participating in it every year.
