Sharda University Annual Tech Fest ‘Contrivance’ – Showcases Projects across Innovative Digital Technologies

New Delhi: The School of Engineering & Technology at Sharda University organised the 5th edition of its popular Annual Technology Festival – ‘Contrivance’ at the University. The two-day Tech Fest witnessed over 18000+ participations across 35+ events from students across 16+ colleges and Universities across India. ‘Contrivance’ is North India’s largest and well-known showcase of latest, innovative and disruptive technologies. At the Exhibition, more than 20 innovative projects by students were showcased highlighting innovative use and application of newer technologies. The fest was inaugurated by successful entrepreneur Ms. Oshika Lumb, Dr. Prabhu Mishra – President CEO & Founder of StemGenn Therapeutics.

Dr. Parma Nand, Dean, School of Engineering & Technology said, “Contrivance’ was conceptualised to bring together students, industry leaders, faculty and researchers to create an eco-system of ideation, innovation and implementation. This not only helps inculcate the spirit of competition and participation amongst students but also their exposure across genres like coding, gaming, tech quizzing, tech model creation and creation of live demos. The theme for this year’s tech fest was ‘Innovation & Creativity’ that encouraged the students to create projects and showcase ideas that are future ready and have the scope for further developments.”

Some of the key technical projects showcased included:

The Hybrid Electric Vehicle- a hybrid vehicle running on batteries as primary source of power and solar energy as the secondary source. The vehicle can carry supplies weighing up to 20Kg and has been made of more than 80% scrap is the brainchild of Mechanical Department scholars Akshay Taneja & Shakeel Ahmed.

RC plane for surveillance,- contains a camera to transmit the video of the area over which it is flying, The project has immense scope as the technology used enables it to perform better than a quadcopter as it is more silent and has more flight time.

High Voltage Shielding by Atif Anwar & Ajay of Computer Science Engineering Department is a complete set of clothes comprising of a jacket, trouser along with high voltage generating shoes. The person wearing this ensemble makes the person shock resistant.

Some of these projects are also under discussion for funding and incubation. The fest culminated with a panel discussion on the ‘Impact of Artificial Intelligence on our society’; wherein Dr. Prabhu Mishra along with other scholars shared their insights on interactive learning in vocal acoustic analysis. The most captivating event ‘Capture the flag’ was organised for the first time in India was organised by Sharda University. The main organizers of the events included proficient faculties, Dr. Pooja, Ms. Rani Astya & students Atif Anwar, Jacob Ajala, Ajay, Anza and Afnan.
