Aligarh : The special meeting of the Executive Council of Aligarh Muslim University, presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sibghatullah Farooqui has unanimously approved the enhancement of age of superannuation of the Vice Chancellor from 65 years to 70 years. The meeting held today at the India International Centre, New Delhi has also decided to hold the meeting of AMU Court in the first week of March 2012 to get its approval to the above decision. All the three representatives of the Visitor, one representative of the Chief Rector, all four elected representatives of teachers, Five Deans of faculties, Principal, J. N. Medical College, Principal, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Principal, Women's College, Director, AMU Malappuram Centre and the University Proctor attended the meeting. It was decided to hold the next meeting of Executive Council during March 9-12, 2012 to draw a panel of five names for the next Vice Chancellor of the University which will be put before the AMU Court in its proposed meeting on March 15 for short listing three names out of the five name panel drawn by the EC. As per the Section 2(1) of Statutes of the University, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University is appointed by the President of India in his/her capacity as the Visitor of the University from a panel of at least three persons recommended by the AMU Court, from a panel of five persons recommended by the Executive Council.
