Jamia Millia Islamia awarded as the Best ICT Enabled Higher Education Institution of the Year

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia has received the best jury award for ICT enabled Institution of Higher Learning in the World Education Summit 2011 held at New Delhi during July 13-15, 2011. The award was given to Jamia Millia Islamia on July 14, 2011 for the "File Tracking System (FTS)" utility developed and implemented by its Centre the FTK-Centre For Information Technology. The nominations for the awards were invited in seven categories from institutions across the globe engaged in the field of education. The categories are schools education, higher education institutions, vocational training institutions, government organizations, non-governmental organizations and private institutions and enterprises. The FTS utility was judged under the Jury Awards Category for "Best ICT Enabled Higher Education Institute of the Year".. The File Tracking System utility allows online tracking of the files as they move from one desk to another within the University. Since its use in the University for past 10-months, the system has recorded almost 60,000 files and their respective status online. The status of files can be monitored from anywhere in the university. The FTS has already started making its impact felt in the university and its use is ever growing. With time the utility will become more potent as it is capable of improving accountability of officials in organizations, making system transparent for the end users, improving the organizational processes by identifying the bottlenecks in file movements, identifying and rewarding efficient officials., quantifying the efficiency index of offices, justify human resource requirements in offices, justify human resource distribution across organization, in ensuring that Service Level Agreement (SLA) is being met for the outsourced work. The software can be easily adapted by any other organization
