Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, celebrated its 92nd Annual Day; Dharmendra Pradhan joined as Chief Guest

New Delhi: Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, celebrated its 92nd Annual Day on March 15, 2018 with great zeal and fervor. The Chief Guest was Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. The Guest Of Honour was Shri Pramod Bhasin, Founder, Genpact Ltd. & Chairman, Clix Capital Services. The occasion was graced by Mr. Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman of the College Governing Body and Prof. Simrit Kaur, Principal, SRCC.

The Annual Day commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana. The Principal presented the College Annual Report. She appreciated the efforts of the students and the faculty in making SRCC – ‘a College of Global Choice’. She also spoke about the growing aspects of the college in the various academic and non-academic fields. She exhorted the graduating batch to be their own ‘Michelangelo’ and carve the angel out from the marble block.

The Chairman Mr. Ajay S. Shriram greeted the guests and formally welcomed the first lady principal of the college. He spoke about how SRCC has grown talent from across the country and evolved itself into a learning hub particularly in fields of Business, Economics and Management Studies since its inception nine decades ago.

Mr. Pramod Bhasin , an alumnus of the college, expressed his pride to see the college populated with about 60% of female students now, compared to his time when there were just two girl students. He talked about the enormous progress of the college in various dimensions which has resulted in its present name and fame. As a successful entrepreneur, he advised the students to dream and imagine the impossible, to include it as part of their life. Success would come in all forms with earnest pursuit of the dream.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the importance of vocational studies and need based skilling together with the regular undergraduate courses for creating a better community. “No Dhirubhai Ambani was born as Dhirubhai Ambani , No Sir Shri Ram was Shri Ram by birth. It is hard-work and persistent determination. They grabbed the opportunity presented to and succeeded” the minister told the applauding audience.

The college publications, Yamuna, Business Analyst, Strides, Global Conflux, IQAC Newsletter and Playoff were released. The teaching and non-teaching staffs were recognized for their contributions. Students were awarded medals and prizes for their achievements both curricular and extracurricular.

The Programme ended with the National Anthem.
