New Delhi: Recently, SRM University, AP – Amaravati, the new upcoming university in the capital city of Andhra Pradesh, has begun working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), U.S., for the design and development of our curriculum through the use of MITx courses. This would include courses such as Calculus, Electromagnetic Theory, Classical Mechanics, Computer Programing, and many more.
These courses will incorporate the concepts of hybrid learning by utilizing both traditional and technologically enabled teaching methods. This will aid students in moving from a traditional learning to a hybrid learning approach by utilizing educational technology and stimulating students to question and discover more.
“SRM is embracing a new method of learning, not before seen in India. We will emphasize practical and application oriented learning via projects and lab courses rather than monologues that are the typical feature of our classrooms. We would like to create a world class environment for our students here at SRM University, AP – Amaravati; and we want to help them create tomorrow”, says Dr. P Sathyanarayanan, Presidentof SRM University, AP – Amaravati.
To ensure the effective delivery of these courses, SRM University, AP – Amaravati’s faculty will participate in annual design camps. Through these camps, faculty will learn techniques to blend MITx courses and MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) course material with relevant local content into the courses offered.
Courses that will be developed will include computer science and programing, calculus, classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, circuits and electronics, etc.
SRM University, AP – Amaravati is currently establishing partnerships with other reputed international universities from the US, the UK and Singapore. With support from these international institutions, there will be a significant focus on both pure and applied research in areas of renewable energy, space technology, IoT, blue economy, nanotechnologies, and many more.“Developing research led universities is fundamental to the progress of the state and the nation. We aim to do just that by bringing solutions to the problems that plague today’s world”, says Dr.NarayanaRao, Pro – Vice Chancellor of SRM University, AP – Amaravati.
This university will eventually grow from being engineering centred into an integrated multi-disciplinary institution offering courses in management, law, medical sciences, pure sciences and liberal arts.
