Tata Steel felicitates meritorious students of West Bokaro

West Bokaro: 239 students of pre-matric coaching centres run by the West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel were felicitated in a ceremony organised today at West Bokaro Auditorium of Tata Steel.

The students were felicitated for their outstanding results in the matriculation examination conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council. The students were felicitated by Chief Guests, Mr Kishor Kaushal, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ramgarh and Mr Kishore Kumar Rajak, Probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ramgarh along with Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager (Coal), Tata Steel; Mr Dushyant Patel, Zilla Parishad Member and Mr Kailash Gop, Treasurer, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RCMS).

Lauding Tata Steel for enriching the lives of the children through education, Mr Kishor Kaushal said: “Tata group is a pioneer in social responsibility and its contribution towards the society has made it a leader since the last 100 years”. In his address to the students, Mr Kaushal urged the students to work hard and stay away from substance abuse to succeed in life.

Mr Sanjay Kumar Singh said: “The idea behind focus on education is to provide necessary support and assistance to the underprivileged with an aim to make them self-sufficient and responsible citizens”.

In 2016-17, pre-matric coaching classes were conducted for 1457 students from class VIII to class X at eight different centres in and around West Bokaro. A total of 24 part-time teachers provided coaching for Mathematics, English and Science.

Out of 1457 students, 503 students appeared for matriculation examination conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council. All of them cleared the examination. 54 students got distinction with more than 75 percent marks and the remaining 239 students passed the examination with first division.
