Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology takes quantum jump into National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2018 Rankings

Mumbai: Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), Patiala, has been ranked 20th in Engineering category among the top Engineering institutes of the Country, 33rd in University category and 50th in Overall category in the biggest and most comprehensive National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2018 Rankings, MHRD, Government of India. These rankings were announced by Hon. Shri Prakash Javedekar, Union Minister of HRD, Government of India on 3rd April 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. NIRF Ranking focuses on five prominent key parameters Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception.

Earlier, in NIRF-2017 Rankings, TIET secured 26th rank in the Engineering Institutions category, 46th rank in the University category and 75th in Overall category. All these rankings of TIET are an indicator of the dominance of TIET over other institutions in North India, thus making it an obvious choice for engineering aspirants all over India.

Speaking on this, Director, Dr. Prakash Gopalan said, “A bright future awaits a Thapar graduate as the University has embarked on a program to modernize itself in all aspects. An outcome based, experiential, self-directed and project led education coupled with high research expectations from the faculty will catapult us to a higher standing in time to come”.
