UVA Darden Launches Digital Product Management MOOC

New Delhi: The University of Virginia Darden School of Business has launched a new online product management course that will provide the latest in customer-focused development processes to aspiring or current product managers and general managers.

The course, “Digital Product Management: Modern Fundamentals,” immerses learners in modern methods that spur innovation and foster successful product development.

The course is available on the Coursera platform and interested participants can enroll now for the cohort starting 29 May.

Darden faculty member and course head Alex Cowan says many companies decline as their products fail to keep competitive, an outcome that is often the result of outdated development processes. However, with effective product managers, companies can stay competitive and create innovative new products with high desirability.

“At the intersection of innovation and general management, you have product management,” Cowan said. “Particularly in digital, I think that’s where the action is for MBAs and managers, in general. As a community of practice, we’ve learned a lot about what works just in the last five years or so, and that’s where this new course is focused.”

The four-week course features extensive interviews with Silicon Valley leaders who share their experiences, insights and tips. Exploring both the “why” and “how” of digital product management, the course walks learners through exploring new product ideas and amplifying existing products.

Darden is a leader in innovation in online learning, and its offerings are a key component of the world’s best business education experience in both degree programs and custom programs for leading organizations.

Through its partnership with Coursera, Darden has developed a number of popular massive open online courses, reaching more than 1.1 million via courses in areas such as an entrepreneurship, design thinking, business strategy and project management, among others.
