03rd Batch of IIMK’s One-Year MBA Programme in Business Leadership Inaugurated

Kozhikode : The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) welcomed its third batch of the one-year MBA program, the Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (PGP-BL) to the Campus here today. The premier institute hosted Mr. Vishal Sharma, Consulting Leader, Deloitte Consulting India Private Limited as the Chief Guest in an event presided over by Prof. Shubhasis Dey, Dean (Programmes & International Relations), IIM Kozhikode and attended by members of the faculty, Staff and students from the incoming cohort of PGP-BL.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Vishal Sharma emphasised the importance of learning, unlearning & relearning in the current scenario. Adding that change is a given and will happen in all spheres of life and that students, regardless of their nature of work, should be willing to embrace change. Further, he also exhorted the students to develop a holistic leadership mindset so as to integrate sustainability, social, behavioural, and other aspects in decision making which as personality traits are increasingly becoming the need of the hour.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dey, encouraged the students to go outside their comfort zones, as this will help them grow personally, academically as well as professionally. He also explained the fine nuances of the PGP-BL programme that equip the students to explore these possibilities and give them a solid academic and industrial footing for future.

The new batch of PGP-BL comprises of 65 students from different industry backgrounds with an average work experience of 4.9 yrs. 29% of the batch comprises of female candidates in line with IIM Kozhikode’s resolve for gender diversity and commitment to promoting women in management. Services and IT/ITES account for 23% each of the incoming cohort’s industry background followed by Manufacturing and Automotive Sector (18 % each). 42% students are in the 26-27 age group in this unique offering of One Year full time residential MBA which is now emerging as one of the most sought-after programmes in the country for experienced professionals.
