142 children and youth from 11 different states participate in EDII’s national summer camps

Ahmedabad : Hundred and forty-two children and youth from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Odisha participated in the 40th camp on Entrepreneurial Stimulation for Children and 43rd camp on Entrepreneurial Adventures for Youths organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad.

The camp allows students and youngsters to acquire life skills like problem-solving, innovation, team spirit, adaptability, and leadership through a mix of classroom training and simulation exercises.

Seventy-nine children in the age group of 12-16 years participated in the 40th National Summer Camp at the institute campus. The 5-day residential camp included activities like mental gyms, motivation exercises, puzzles, value education, industry visits, learning through success stories, and presentation of ideas. An interaction with leading entrepreneurs and achievers was also organised as part of the camp to help children understand the dynamics of life and the significance of developing skills to deal with crises and failures.

An interaction with parents is organised at the end of the camp wherein an individual report on every child is discussed. The faculty working with the children administers a psychometric test to understand the abilities and weaknesses of children. The parents are counselled accordingly.

The overwhelming demand has led to EDII conducting two batches in each of these camps. A similar 5-day 41st Camp on Entrepreneurial Stimulation for Children will begin on May 27, 2023.

The institute also organises national camps of Entrepreneurial Adventures for Youths. Presently the 43rd Camp on Entrepreneurial Adventures for Youths is in progress with 63 youths in the age group of 16 to 22 years. In addition to the competencies imparted to youths, the striking feature of the camp is the career counselling by experts, based on their orientation, passion, and inherent traits. The 44th such camp will be organisedd from June 3 to 12, 2023.

Speaking about the national camp, Dr Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, said, “For holistic development of children, they need to be in an environment that lets them experiment with their thoughts, ideas, and creativity. For over three decades, with these national summer camps for children and youth, EDII has been sowing the seed of achievement orientation in them. The children experience a major transformation in their perspective and approach to life.”

So far, EDII has groomed over 4431 children and youths from across the country and internationally too through national camps for children and youth.
