With 15 Winnings LPU lifted AIU’s Overall Championship Trophy (Runner-Up)

Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) has lifted overall championship (Runner Up) trophy of North Zone Youth Festival. This 33rd zonal event was held by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Maharishi Markandeshwar Deemed University (Haryana). Proving supremacy once again among 1000+ institutions affiliated with 28 universities of North India, LPU students not only clinched overall first runner up trophy from the toughest competition but also won two overall literary & procession trophies. The mega event was sponsored by Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, Government of India. Considered as the biggest zonal event for assuring further national participation, LPU students will now compete in National Unifest to be held at University of Ranchi in February 2018. After winning national competitions, LPU students will further participate in South Asian Universities Festival (SAUFEST) to be held at Gujarat in March 2018, where hundreds of foreign delegates will witness their talents.

Along with overall and 2 other trophies, LPU students also won 13 medals in the categories of music, theatre, fine arts & literary events. LPU contingent of 35 students won 4 gold medals for folk orchestra, on the spot painting, debate, and quiz; 3 silver medals for Indian group song, western group song, and poster making; and, 6 bronze for one act play, folk dance, light vocal Indian, western solo instrument, elocution, and mimicry. During 26 competitions of the fest, participating students from Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand displayed exuberant cultural heritage of India and tried their best to grab the coveted trophies and medals.

Congratulating the winning students, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “We are always proud of our hard working students, who are involved in BTech prorammes of engineering and more have brought laurels to the university by winning so many trophies and medals at the annual zonal cultural fest. I wish them all success in their future participations at national and even International level also. I am happy to share that LPU students will now compete in national fest to be held at University of Ranchi. In fact, our students are continuously excelling others in each and every field- be it of research, placements, academics, sports, cultural or any other activity.” Mr Mittal added: “At LPU, we mentor our students as all-rounder so that they may be globally fit. It is always hard to believe that the students of hard professional programs including pharmacy, mechanical engineering or so can devote their time so judiciously that they come out with brilliant colours in whatever task they undertake.”

LPU student Harnam Singh and other gold medal winning student- members of his folk orchestra team, share: “When the name of LPU was announced as overall championship runner up trophy winner with folk orchestra presentations winning first position, all of us got jubilant and danced madly on 55 orchestra items’ beats to lift the prestigious trophy over our heads and to wear gold medals. Our joys knew no bounds and tears rolled down from our cheeks out of excitement and utter happiness. We are thankful to our mentors at LPU who made us to practice throughout the year so that we may be winners. No doubt, it is a tough job to give proper time for academics and cultural activities side by side, but at LPU we are always guided to live up to our passions and excel others.” Illustrative, LPU has won these trophies and medals where thousands of students from universities like GNDU Amritsar, Panjab University Chandigarh, Kurukshetra University, University of Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla and more had competed.
