150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi : CUO sets to organise a week long film exhibition, Essay Competition & International Webinar

Koraput: The Central University of Odisha is all set to organise a Film Exhibition, Essay Competition and an International Webinar focusing on life and thoughts of Gandhiji to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

A week long Film Exhibition will be organized virtually from 26 September to 2 October 2020. Seven best documentaries on ‘The life and thoughts of Gandhiji’ will be exhibited online. Students, faculty members and staff of the University will watch the films, learn and reflect.

An International Webinar on ‘Strategic Importance of Gandhian Thought for Atmanirbhar Bharat’ will be organized on 2 October 2020 at 4.30pm. Lord Bhikhu Chotalal Parekh, Member of The house of Lords, United Kingdom and a Political Scientist of Eminence from the London School of Economics, will be the Chief Guest and Key Speaker. The Vice Chancellor, Central University of Odisha will preside. Sri Charu Dutta Panigrahi, Futurist and writer, will moderate the discussion. The webinar will be coordinated by Prof. P. Durgaprasad and Dr. Ramendra Kumar Parhi.

An essay competition among the students will be held based on the theme ‘Gandhiji’s Thoughts and National Education Policy-2020’ in Odia, Hindi and English languages. Winners will be awarded prizes in the Valedictory programme on 2 October 2020.

The Chairman of the programme, Prof. S. K. Palita invites all the students and staff to participate in the programme and make it a grand success. The programme will be coordinated by Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relation Officer of the University.
