160+ Indian Festivals celebrated at Inaugural-Day of annual mega-fest ‘One India’ at LPU Campus

 

Jalandhar: Two-day annual mega fest ‘One India-2018’ was inaugurated today at Lovely Professional University Campus, with celebration of 160+ Indian festivals on a single day by maintaining full mirth and measures of the respective festive occasions. More than 8000+ student-participants from 29 states and 7 Union Territories of India worked together and converted LPU campus into the whole of India in real form. During this 9th session of the ‘One India’ fest, students are celebrating the theme of “Festivals & Cultural Celebrations” characterized by full gaiety, colours, prayers, rituals, enthusiasm and proving it grand in style and aim. The most important point of the fest is that LPU students are seen representing not only their own state but other states also to showcase strong ‘Unity in Diversity’ of India. Even International students from 70+ countries are also participating actively along with their Indian counterparts to imbibe great Indian ideologies and culture.

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal inaugurated the fest-celebrations by unveiling the huge canvass depicting different Indian fests and cultures. Chancellor Mr Mittal conveys: “Being a land of many religions, cultures & languages; India is also a home to large number of festivals as different communities keep on celebrating these throughout the year. Although the myriad of Indian festivals connote different things; however, all of these have one common and strong thread of unity. This is the strong connotation that we want our students to imbibe and co-exist in full harmony to prove this land a better place to live and work.” By visiting individual expo stall, Mrs Madhu Mittal from Lovely Group, Vice-Chairman Mr Naresh Mittal, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal & other senior management and university officials inspired students to go ahead in all unified works for the betterment of community, country and the world.

Prior to this, LPU students chanted slogans in relation to festival-celebrations throughout the campus during 2 Kms long procession of tableaus representing each state and UT of India. Students showcased festive dances, culture, dresses, historical & cultural aspects during entire colourful procession constituting different regions. For this, 150+ exhibition & food stalls, 36 folk Music & dance performances depicted magnanimity of oneness among all. In addition to common and important festivals of the country including Holi, Deepawali, Dussehra; students of different states observed and shared religious festivals and occasions like Navaratri, Durga Puja, Eid-Ul-Fitr, Gurpurb, Christmas, JaganNath Rath Yatra, Ganesh Chaturthi, Hemkunt Sahib Yatra, Ram Navami, Janmashtmi, Hola Mohalla, Jaago, Teeyan; occasional fests like Sagadawa and Flower fests of Sikkim, Boita of Odisha; harvest festivals Onam & Pongal of South India, Baisakhi of Punjab; and, famous Bihu of Assam, Morung of Nagaland and many more festivals.

The fest- ‘One India’ is held every year at LPU Campus to let diverse student community feel the importance of unity by all means. In fact, this grand celebration is proving to be a grand effort in binding students in a single knot of unity amid great cultural diversity at the campus. Different LPU Schools represented different states of India separately, and their students worked together to bring out the great aspects of the individual states for thousands of other on looking students. Tomorrow, on the conclusive day of the fest, valedictory ceremony will witness the great cultural showcase of continuous dancing performances of all the states of India and awards to expo winners.
