1st J&K Girls Battalion NCC Srinagar, GCW Udhampur start Week-Long Independence Day celebrations

UDHAMPUR : To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 75 years of Independence, a weeklong celebration began today here at Government College for Women Udhampur.

1 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar, GCW Udhampur under the patronage and guidance of the Principal of the college Dr. Monika Sharma, is organizing Har Ghar Jhanda programme during the celebration of Independence Week in which series of events shall be organized from 11th to 17th August, 2022.

The events to be organized in the week-long program include Poem Recitation competition, Rally, distribution of National flags, T-shirts; painting, Quiz competitions; Digital Rangoli Competition based on the theme ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.

In this series of events, a Poem Recitation competition, through virtual mode, was organized on the first day of this mega celebration in which 7 cadets of 1 J&K Girls BN NCC Srinagar actively participated and presented poems on the theme.

The competition was judged by Dr. Seema Sharma, HOD Music and Prof Mushtaq HOD Hindi. Jury members declared the winners on the basis of their presentation and content of the poems. The first, second and third positions were bagged by Cadet Piyush Sharma, Cadet Ritu Devi and Cadets Priya Thakur, respectively.

The Consolation prize was won by Cadet Radhika Devi. Principal of the college appreciated the cadets for participating and celebrating the Har Ghar Jhanda campaign during Independence Week with great enthusiasm.

The event was coordinated by the ANO Prof Shallu Jasrotia. The prizes and certificates will be distributed to the winners on the last day of the Independence celebration week.
