230 Stranded passengers including 84 JKSSB aspirants of Gurez Valley airlifted

 

BANDIPORA : The District Administration Bandipora in coordination with Army and other authorities today set into motion an airlifting exercise wherein a record number of air sorties were run to and fro Gurez valley to evacuate stranded passengers including stranded aspirants who were expected to appear in JKSSB exams tomorrow.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad said with improvement in weather on Saturday MI-17 and Aryan Private Helicopter was put into service to air lift the stranded passengers. He said more than 230 passengers were airlifted in 17 air sorties.

“114 passengers were airlifted from Dawar, Kanzalwan, Neeru and Baduaab areas of Gurez Valley to Bandipora while 103 adults and 13 infants were airlifted from Bandipora to Dawar, Kanzalwan and Baduaab areas of Gurez Valley,” he added.

Dr Owais said the passengers including JKSSB aspirants were stranded and due to bad weather no flight could be operated till today. He said with improvement in weather on Saturday, Helicopter was pressed into service to airlift the stranded passengers. He wished good luck and best wishes to the aspirants who are appearing in exams.
