3-day International Conference on Integrated Interdisciplinary Innovations in Engineering concludes

Jammu: The three- day online International Conference on “Integrated Interdisciplinary Innovations In Engineering”, organized under twining activity of TEQIP-III in collaboration with Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu and University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Punjab University, Chandigarh, concluded today.
The Conference was held under the guidance and patronage of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Prof Savita Gupta, Director, UIET and Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET, Jammu.
The valedictory function marked encouraging words from the Chief Guest, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar for the reputed scholars and researchers, who participated in the programme as well as the organisers, who made this event a great success.
While congratulating UIET and GCET for organizing this grand event, Prof. Tankeshwar said that the ICIIIE contains three important I’s, which have been well discussed in this programme. The first one being ‘Innovation’, which is very important to run an economy since innovation is not just an idea but has the potential to bring in an acceptable product. The second I represents ‘Interdisciplinary’ and the third one, ‘Integration’. Interdisciplinary Innovation and Integration can translate research into meaningful products, which in-turn can lead to self-reliance.
Dr. Harmesh Kumar, Program Chair ICIIIE 2020, stated that this conference has provided a platform for the researchers to deliberate upon integrated interdisciplinary innovations in Engineering. “Presentations from delegates from across various institutions during the three days revealed the amazing diversity of innovative applications in interdisciplinary fields, which have left a deep impact on the participants,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal GCET, Jammu commended the efforts of organizing teams of both the Institutes viz. UIET and GCET for successfully holding such a grand event amid COVID-19 pandemic. She said that GCET Jammu is looking forward to organizing more such events in emerging areas in engineering so as to provide a common platform to exchange innovative ideas and information amongst the academicians, researchers and professionals from industry.
Dr. Minto Rattan, coordinator ICIIIE presented the conference report highlighting the key features of the ICIIIE 2020.
The technical program was enriched with ten plenary talks, twelve invited talks, eight short invited talks and 200 oral/poster presentations. There were 19 technical sessions in the conference related to various branches of engineering, materials science, mathematics and biotechnology. In each session one best presentation award was conferred.
