3-day training in IDSP starts in Govt. Medical College Jammu

Jammu: Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College Jammu today started three day long training program here on Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP).

The program was inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal and Dean GMC & Associated Hospitals Jammu. She talked about the important role of labs in the diagnosis of the diseases identified under the IDSP.

The aim of IDSP is to collect the early signs of communicable diseases, so that it does not assume epidemic proportions and to institute necessary interventions well in time.

During the program, the Medical Officers working in the field practice area were made aware of this program. Doctors from different field shall be attending the training program for the next two days.

During the training program, Dr. Rajiv K Gupta, Professor and Head of Community Medicine talked about the surveillance, outbreak and how to identify diseases. Dr. Rakesh Behl, Associate Professor, Community Medicine in his speech talked about diseases which are inclusive in this program.

Dr. Bhavana Langar, Associate Professor, Community Medicine gave information regarding how to load data on IDSP portal and Dr. Rashmi K Gupta told participants about the stakeholders and how the program is being run in the hospital.
