Over 3200 students across 170+colleges of India gear up for the 2017 Enactus India National Competition to be held on 17 June
Mumbai: Enactus India, a subsidiary of Enactus Worldwide, an international non-profit organization of students with a focus on community empowerment and improving the world through entrepreneurial action, will host the Enactus India National Competition on June 17th in Mumbai where upcoming student community outreach projects will compete before a jury of top corporate leaders. Each country within the Enactus Worldwide network of 36 countries with over 72,000 active student members spread across 1700 universities will be hosting National Competitions. The National Champion teams will present their projects at the prestigious Enactus World Cup 2017 to be held in London, England from 26-28 September 2017.
Enactus India has more than 3200 student participants from 170+college campuses across the country. Leading colleges and educational institutes, including Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Roorkee, and Madras), St. Stephen’s College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, St. Xavier’s College, Lady Shriram College, BITS Pilani, Delhi School of Economics, S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, IMT Ghaziabad and others have an active Enactus team of 100 students working in an organogram and representing their respective campus at the Enactus India National Competition every year.
According to Dr Farhan Pettiwala, IAS, President& CEO, Enactus India, “The Enactus program is designed to foster an entrepreneurial approach that encourages creativity and resourcefulness. With the support and encouragement of their Enactus advisors and a local business advisory board from corporate India Inc who mentor these students, Enactus students apply these business and economic concepts (which they learn in college) to develop and execute community outreach projects that improve the livelihoods of people-in-need (mainly Below Poverty Line) . The National Competition provides a platform for more than 161 Enactus teams (across India) to showcase the impact and sustainability of their outreach efforts which is judges and evaluated by C-suite leaders from corporates such as Mahindra, KPMG, Walmart, Unilever, SYNTEL, TATA Group, whom are invited to serve as judges.”
Enactus India’s corporate partners include global names like Unilever, , SYNTEL, KPMG India, Mahindra & Mahindra, ZEE Entertainment, Blue Dart Express Limited, Walmart, Monster.com and Sealed Air among others. These companies have been supporting Enactus (erstwhile SIFE) from over 25 years and in more than 20 countries and as part of governance, the Top CEO’s of these firms sit on the Advisory Board/Council of Enactus in India

In the 2016 Enactus India National Competition, the Enactus team from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies emerged as the National Champion and went on to represent India at the 2016 Enactus World Cup in Toronto, Canada. The Champion team presented their two projects: Project Raahat & Project Udaan during the World Cup which focused on Swach Bharat and Skill Development initiatives which are favorite projects of our PM.
