37 European universities to participate in European Higher Education Virtual Fair on 14-15 Nov

New Delhi: Following on from the success of the European Higher Education Virtual Fairs in India held in 2015, 2016 and 2018, the Delegation of the European Union to India is organizing the European Higher Education Virtual Fair India 2019 (EHEVF 2019) on 14-15 November 2019 with participation of 37 universities from 18 EU Member States.

An innovative, ‘Virtual’ initiative, EHEVF 2019 is designed to highlight the many benefits of Europe as a high standard higher education destination to potential international students, researchers, and academics across India.

The EU Ambassador to India, H. E. Ugo Astuto, said, “We are delighted to announce the 4th European Higher Education Virtual Fair, a virtual initiative which aims at reaching out to large numbers of Indian students and facilitating their contacts with universities and other academic institutions across the European Union”.

“A leading destination for international students, Europe provides world class education and research capacity in state-of-the-art facilities. We hope EHEVF 2019 will highlight the rich and diverse opportunities available in the European Union, including bilateral opportunities offered by EU Member States as well as those offered through European programmes such as Erasmus+. This initiative should also be seen in the broader context of the EU-India Strategic Partnership in which people-people relations play an important role”.

As last year, EHEVF 2019 will allow Indian students, researchers and academics to interact with European universities and EU member state representatives through multiple webinars and personalized Q&A. In total the initiative will comprise 47 webinar sessions involving 37 HEIs from 18 EU Member States and a number of thematic sessions and country presentations will take place over the two-day period.

The scheduled sessions will give students the opportunity to hear in detail about study courses offered by leading universities from Czechia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. Programmes presented will cover a wide range of study options, including those popular with Indian students such as Engineering, Computer Sciences, Business and Management, Marketing, Economics, Dentistry, Media, and Political Science.

Overall, Europe is the second most preferred destination for Indian students wishing to study abroad with approximately over 50,000 students currently studying in Europe. With one-fifth of world’s universities and a quarter of the world’s students, Europe has the widest and most diverse range of high standard education and research. In fact, World University rankings demonstrate that in terms of quality, European universities are among the best the best in the World, with approximately half of the universities in international rankings from the EU.

In 2019, out of the 1800 fully-funded Erasmus Mundus scholarships that the EU awards each year to students from outside Europe, 89 scholarships were awarded to Indian students – the fourth highest total per country worldwide. This shows that Indian students know already their way to Europe and the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, and that Indian students have the skills, capacity, and academic excellence to be selected.

As previously, EHEVF 2019 comprises two components – a dedicated website www.study-europe.net and a series of informative webinars by leading European HEIs organized for students from India: https://www.study-europe.net/content/webinar-schedule-0

The EHEVF website has over 200 dedicated web pages for all participating universities providing authentic and updated information about the educational courses and degrees available under different streams at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students can search for universities according to subject, tuition fee or country of choice.
