3rd National Moot Court Competition 2023 hosted by Amity University, Mumbai, Sastra University emerges as the winner.
A total of 54 teams participated in the competition, with 22 teams advancing to the final rounds after a rigorous preliminary selection process. The champions received ₹50,000, while the runner-up team received ₹20,000.
The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. A. W. Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Mumbai. Participants delivered intense arguments, well-researched case presentations, and exceptional oratory skills. The moot court problem revolved around the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, challenging teams to grapple with complex legal issues and delve deep into legal research and analysis.
The quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, held on November 1st and 2nd, were intense showdowns, with the ultimate winner emerging as the best of the best.
A diverse panel of academics, legal practitioners, and experts in NDPS matters judged the preliminary rounds.
Sastra University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, was victorious at the 3rd National Moot Court Competition 2023, hosted by Amity Law School, Amity University, Mumbai. Bharti Vidyapeeth, New Law College, Pune, was the runner-up.
Special awards were also presented: Sudheshna Bhatkar of Symbiosis Law College Pune received the award for best researcher, Atharva Tiwari, Sarthak Awasthi, and Ishika of Bharti Vidyapeeth Pune received the award for best memorial, and Harika Ribeiro of Government Law College Thiruvananthapuram was named the best speaker.
The event was enriched by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, Vice Chancellor of MNLU, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Variath, Registrar of MNLU, and Sankalan Das, Public Prosecutor, Bombay High Court, who chaired the jury during the final round.
Prof. Dr. Vijay Singh Dahima, Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor of AUM and Incharge of Amity Law School, congratulated the winners and participants on a successful and intense legal showdown.
