3rd ‘World Statistics Day’ observed in Budgam

Budgam: The 3rd World Statistics Day themed ‘Connecting the world with Data we can trust’ was celebrated here today under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza.
On the occasion, the speakers highlighted the importance of trustworthy data for effective/result oriented policy making and need to fill the gap between the statisticians and policy makers.
Besides it was further emphasized during the course of the event that Statistics being the language of all sciences, credibility of statistics is subject to the credibility of organizations concerned with collection of statistical data as there is no place for statisticians to compromise with their professional integrity.
Furthermore the speakers stressed that statistical tools and softwares be introduced in the different departments/organizations to reduce manual human efforts and to achieve efficiency in analysing the voluminous data.
On the occasion, the Evaluation Study Reports on “National Rural Livelihood Mission” and “Janani SurakhshaYojna” prepared by District Statistics and Evaluation Office Budgam were also released.
Among others, the event was also attended by Former Director General Economics & Statistics J&K G.A. Qureshi, Chief Planning Officer Budgam Rafiq Ahmad, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, District Information Officer, academicians/statisticians, other sectoral officers, members of Economics & Statistics fraternity, students of Economics and Statistics of various colleges and Hr. Secondary schools of district Budgam.
