4-Day District Badminton championship concludes at Mini Stadium Udhampur
UDHAMPUR : Four day open 8th District Badminton championship organised by District Badminton Association Udhampur concluded here at Mini Stadium.
Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib was the chief guest, while District Information Officer Rajinder Kumar Digra was the special guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest complimented the organisers for the successful conduct of the championship. She said that holding such tournaments was a step forward to give a platform to the budding players of the District and to encourage the sports culture for a healthy society. She said that sports activities provide a common platform to the budding sports persons to exhibit their sports talent at a common platform which helps them to face future challenges in their life. She called upon the participants to continue to take part in sports for their physical and mental fitness. She lauded the initiative taken by organisers to build up the morale and inculcate the spirit of sportspersonship in the participants. She hoped that such a tournament would go a long way in attracting the youth towards sports.
The DC also interacted with the participants and urged the youth to actively participate in the sports activities for their all round development. She extended her best wishes to all the participants for future endeavours.
Earlier, President District Badminton Association, Suresh Khajuria welcomed the chief guest and presented the report on the championship. He expressed his gratitude to Sports Council Udhampur and all others who contributed directly or indirectly to make this Championship successful.
Later, the chief guest gave away prizes and certificates among the winners as well as participants.
Manager Sports Stadium, Naveen Sharma; District President Volleyball Association, Raj Guru; President District Kho-Kho Association, Advocate Sanjeet Bavouria; District President, Kabaddi Association, Tanveer Sheikh and other members of different Associations besides players were present on the occasion.
